I had a conversation with someone that is Protestant and very anti-Catholic and he said Jesus did not say He founded the Catholic Church. I mentioned to him that He did not say anything about the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity is not in the Bible. I shared with him that St. Ignatius of Antioch knew in person St. John, the beloved apostle of Jesus. He knew St. Polycarp that was disciple of St. John. He went to his martyrdom happy because the beasts will eat him due to his refusal to worship the Roman Emperor and worship only Jesus who is God. He agreed he had the Holy Spirit. I mentioned to him, in the way to his martyrdom in Rome, he wrote letters in places he stopped, to the followers of Jesus there. The places are similar to the places in the Book of Revelation. He wrote a letter to Smyrna year 107 AD that the Church of Jesus is Catholic. The first time that Catholic appeared in writings. He said that is not in the Bible. He follows Martin Luther Bible only. I will share my question to him in the Bible area. I asked him does he know when that last book of the Bible was written. He did not. I shared with him that was the Book of Revelation by St. John year 100 AD. There was not Bible in the first 400 years the way we know it now. He repeated again is not in the Bible. I said to him that he did not make any sense. How can be in the Bible when the last book of the Bible was written in year 100 AD? Anybody with common sense will understand that Catholic will not be in the Bible because 100 AD the last book of the Bible was written and the word Catholic appears in writing for the first time associated with Jesus in the year 107 AD. To be truth and Apostolic teachings, it is not necessary to be in the Bible. Sola Scriptura or Bible only that Martin Luther introduced is not in the Bible. I asked him about the Bible book, chapter and verse that supports his belief. I will make new discussion in Bible category with more details about that: Is Sola Scriptura or Bible only biblical or in the Bible? This person believes according to his interpretation of the Bible because is not in the Bible, it is not truth. Again, that is Bible only belief, no in the Bible. Jesus commanded the Apostles to preach the Good News, no to give Bibles away. The preaching was the spoken word of God or Sacred Traditions. Because there was not Bible, the Bible was not the source of salvation. The source of salvation was and is Jesus with the Sacraments. Jesus instituted all the Sacraments. They are biblical but it did not need to be biblical. The Bible came from the spoken word of God or Sacred Traditions. The word Catholic came from Sacred Traditions that the Holy Spirit always guides His Church. Tell me why I am wrong but with evidence, no opinions. This person has all opinions. I presented evidence.
God bless, Doc
